Atlanta Hawks fall to Portland, Kyle Korver’s streak ends at 127 games

On December 6, Kyle Korver made a three from the right wing to break Dana Barros’ record of 89 consecutive games with a made 3-pointer. From there on out, he just kept adding to the record.

Now you can officially close the book on Korver’s streak of consecutive games with a made 3-pointer at 127 games. The streak started November 4, 2012. It has been 17 months since Korver hasn’t made at least one three in a game. Let that sink in for a second.

Korver struggled Wednesday night, as did the entire Hawks offense, as he went 0-5 from long distance and finished with only two points in over 28 minutes. The Hawks looked sluggish and it showed as they lost to the Portland Trail Blazers 102-78.

Korver did not see the floor for the entirety of the fourth quarter. Coach Budenholzer elected to instead give his bench some more minutes, entering the period down 22 points.

“I’m a little bummed for sure, but it was good while it lasted” said Korver after the game. “I think someday we’ll look on it and be proud but obviously it was a tough game all around tonight for us and its part of it.”

“It’s a heck of a streak, we all feel fortunate to be a part of it” said Coach Budenholzer. “He’s an amazing competitor, he’s an amazing shooter and we’ll all move on.”

Give Portland’s defense some credit, as they forced Korver into tough shots all night. Korver did have some open looks that he usually gets to go down. Check out every one of his shots last night here.

I would venture to say the record is securely his, at least for a while. The closest player to the record currently is Golden State point guard Steph Curry with 50 consecutive games. Curry will need to keep it up for almost a full season more to break Korver’s record.

Korver is a great shooter, so expect him to try to oust his own record. Kyle will look to start another streak Friday night as they take on the Golden State Warriors.
