Nuggets snap short-handed Clippers 11 game win streak

The Los Angeles Clippers had three games in the last four nights, and were missing four vital wing players. With Jared Dudley, Darren Collison, JJ Reddick, and Jamal Crawford all sidelined with injuries the Clippers played only nine players last night(including a Hollins 1 minute contribution). The Denver Nuggets took advantage of the sluggish Clippers and earned a 110-100 win on Monday night.

Kenneth Faried terrorized the Clippers scoring 18 points and grabbing 18 rebounds including six offensive boards. It appeared early on Blake Griffin wanted no part of Faried as Faried’s frantic pace was to much for the sluggish Griffin in the thin Denver air. Although he finished with 26 points and 12 rebound, griffin struggled finding a rhythm and ended up shooting a forgettable 7-25. A bright spot for Griffin was his 12-12 performance from the free throw line as he is shooting a career best 70% from the free throw line this year.

Defensively, the Clippers looked like a team that had played three games in the last four nights, they allowed the entire Nuggets starting five to score double-digits and gave up 21 points and11 boards to JJ Hickson off the bench. Coach Doc Rivers said “”I just felt we didn’t have enough in us, to be honest” and he continued by say that the Nuggets “dominated the energy department”.

Chris Paul had the best night by far for the road team tallying 29 points and dishing 7 assists. A loss might bot be a bad thing for the Clippers and their fans, you’d much rather have your team playing their best basketball in April and May as opposed to March. In addition to this, the Clippers have a nice 4+ day break as their next game is not until next Saturday night. Hopefully the Clippers can rest up and add the likes of Collison, Crawford, and Dudley back to the lineup.
