Columbus Blue Jackets: Rick Nash comes back to Columbus

As I talked about last week, the Columbus Blue Jackets (36-27-6) are finally showing their fans their true potential. This week they struggled in games they needed, but managed to pull off a win last night against the Montreal Canadiens (38-26-7). But, their most important game of all will be tonight when they face off against the New York Rangers (37-29-4).

Not only are the two teams in close competition in the Metropolitan Division, but also this will be the first game Rick Nash will play in Columbus since leaving the team and joining the Rangers back in 2012. Tonight Columbus will have a video tribute for Nash, the player that was the face of the franchise from 2002-2012.

The Blue Jackets have been on a roll recently and have consistently shown an aggressive offense. They have played well together for the majority of the second half of the season, if they can pull off a win against the offensively sound Rangers, they should ensure their position in the post season.

They have also continued to be strong even without defenseman Ryan Murray, who has been out due to an injury he sustained on his knee. To make up for the loss many players have stepped up in areas where they previously hadn’t. That, paired with an always aggressive offense, has lead to repeated success for the team.

All in all, regardless of the score tonight it will be an exciting game. Nash has repeatedly conveyed his excitement for returning to the city that he was with for so long. He says that regardless of the crowds reaction to him, he will love being back in the city.

Tonight will be an exciting game full of current Blue Jackets and faces of the past. With the end of the regular season quickly approaching, it is time for all of the Columbus Blue Jackets fans to rally behind their team. This could be their year, this could be history in the making.

What are your fondest memories of the season?
