Florida Gators football: Class of 2015 recruits to target

It seems like just yesterday that the 2014 recruiting class was signing their National Letters of Intent, but with spring practice well under way across the country, let’s take a look at some 2015 recruits that the Florida Gators should be targeting.

DE Byron Cowart

Cowart is one of the top-rated defensive ends in the Class of 2015. At 6-foot-3, 254 pounds and a 40-yard dash in the 4.6-range, Cowart has a good combination of size and speed. He is regarded as a four or five-star prospect depending on the recruiting service. The Seffner, Fla. native has already received offers from Florida, Alabama, Auburn, Florida State and Georgia, among others.

QB Torrance Gibson

Five-star quarterback Torrance Gibson is one of the most sought after prospects in the nation, with offers from virtually every school. Gibson is the top-rated dual-threat quarterback in his class. The 6-foot-5, 198 pound Gibson has the athleticism to play just about any skill position on the field, but with his size, speed and raw ability, he could best utilize his talents at the quarterback position.

Florida did just add quarterbacks Will Grier and Treon Harris this year, but head coach Will Muschamp has added at least one quarterback in each of his recruiting classes at UF, so why not make a play for the most talented one in the Class of 2015?

ATH George Campbell

Athlete George Campbell is one of the top overall prospects in the Class of 2015. The 6-foot-4, 187 pound Campbell has a reported 40-yard dash time of 4.36 seconds, so he has the size and speed to develop into a top-flight wide receiver. For a team that has not had a wide receiver post a 1,000-yard season since Taylor Jacobs in 2002, Campbell should be near the top of Florida’ list of targets.

LB Jeffery Holland

Holland is one of the top-rated outside linebackers in the nation. He appears to be a perfect fit for Muschamp’s aggressive, physical style of defense.

The 6-foot-2, 226-pounder is a big-hitter who has the quickness and athleticism to excel as a pass rusher. The good news here is that Holland already appears to be quite high on the Gators.
