Its Opening Day Folks! Finally! And although the Indians don’t open their season until much of the East Coast is in bed, I figured a preview for this season was in order.
Now, every year I say that we should be positive. But this year, I mean it! The Indians surpassed even the most optimistic projections last season, and this year, the Indians will return a somewhat-similar team, with a few changes scattered across the team.
Big impact players like Joe Smith, Ubaldo Jimenez and Scott Kazmir have moved on. But never fear because the Tribe brought in a couple of solid players like David Murphy and John Axford, while also promoting players, like Danny Salazar and Yan Gomes, into full-playing-time roles.
Things are looking up for this season. The offense is stout, the bullpen looks to have improved over last year, and if the the starting rotation perform to their respective capabilities, the Indians could have a very, very good season in 2014.
But it all begins tonight, as the Cleveland Indians start their season out west in Oakland (where it is I’m sure significantly warmer than in Cleveland) at 10:05 ET on Sportstime Ohio.
The starting lineup has not been announced.
