Michigan picked up a commitment from 4 star offensive lineman Grant Newsome (Lawrenceville, New Jersey) on Wednesday. Newsome is ranked the #4 player in the state of New Jersey and the #21 offensive tackle in the country. He becomes the seventh member of Michigan’s 2015 recruiting class.

Here’s an excerpt of Newsome’s scouting report on espn;

Is very tall with a lean blend that looks to be capable of supporting additional bulk. Can move adequately in space for a guy his size with the ability to pull and block what is directly in front of him…Newsome has the frame and athletic ability to develop but is still a bit raw at this stage.

Newsome has the size, 6-7, 290, of a prototypical offensive tackle. Among others, Newsome had also visited Penn State, Northwestern, Maryland, Duke and Stanford.

Newsome released the following statement on Twitter;

I am incredibly happy to announce that I have committed to play football at the University of Michigan. I feel that Michigan is the best fit athletically, academically, and socially for me, and I am excited to spend the next four years of my life in Ann Arbor.

I would also like to thank Coach Hoke, Coach Funk, Coach Singletary, and the entire Michigan staff, for making me feel like a part of your family. I can’t wait to get onto campus and become a part of team 136!

Michigan also recently landed USC transfer Ty Isaac
