The card features a star-packed main event: a fatal 4-way match for the WWE World Title featuring John Cena (c), Roman Reigns, Randy Orton, and Kane. While this match will surely be an above average match to watch, this isn’t the most anticipated match on the card.
The match that will likely have everyone talking is the showdown between Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins.
This is a heated rivalry and definitely the best story in WWE right now. Ever since Rollins turned on Ambrose and Reigns over a month back, these two stars have been going at it and every encounter has been great.
Ambrose and Rollins have the chance to steal the show, and they probably will. They also have the chance to put on a true Match of the Year candidate, and they probably will. Both men have shown that they are willing to do anything to put on a good show for the fans, and I can’t think of a time they ever put on a bad match since their debut.
They have different ring styles, which could either hurt or help the match. Rollins is more of a high-flyer while Ambrose is a scrappy wrestler. Both of them work at a fast pace, so the match is sure to be filled with can’t miss moments.
As for a prediction, it could really go either way. Rollins is coming off the biggest win of his career when he captured the Money in the Bank contract, and Ambrose has been on a great streak of not letting Rollins cash in.
There’s no way this feud doesn’t stretch out to Summerslam, and I don’t think WWE plans on burying either of the two men, which is why I think this match ends without a true winner. This way it will be leaving the fans wanting more.
Prediction: DQ/No Contest
The fatal 4-way main event is a lot more predictable. I’m willing to put a lot of money on Cena winning. As I said in my last article, there would be little reason to give the belt to Cena at MITB if he was just going to lose it at the next show.
Also as I said in that article, Cena is scheduled to take on Lesnar in the main event of next month’s SummerSlam show. It is a main event that people will pay to see, and in struggling times, the WWE needs to put on a main event of this caliber.
As for the fatal 4-way, expect a Cena victory but a Roman Reigns showcase. The way WWE has booked Roman Reigns, it’s pretty obvious that they are setting him up to be the next big babyface.
There are reports of Reigns facing off against Orton at SummerSlam, and a victory over a prestiged former champion like Orton will make Reigns one of, if not the top star in the company. He will then likely clash with Triple H later down the road, and eventually should cumulate with a showdown with Cena at Wrestlemania 31, to put solidify Reigns as the next top star.
It all starts at Battleground, where we will see Reigns dominate Kane and Orton and probably have face off with Cena that will make the crowd go wild. I think Orton or The Authority will somehow screw Reigns out of the title, setting up the SummerSlam blockbuster.
Prediction: Cena wins, Reigns looks strong
