Yesterday was mixed results for my daily fantasy baseball selections. The pitcher I chose Dallas Keuchel was shelled. He allowed five runs, in four and two third innings. That is really strange considering how dominant last year’s American league Cy young winner had been at home. My hitters fared well as Robinson Cano went 3-4 with a double and Buster Posey was 2-4 with a run scored. Today, games will begin at 6pm, with Detroit Tigers newly engaged ace Justin Verlander taking the mound. Below are three players I like in tonight’s games:
I was thinking of writing about Matt Harvey facing the lowly Atlanta Braves, but I decided to go with the sure thing. Jake Arrieta has been so good, sports analysts are wondering if he is taking performance enhancing drugs. On the season Arrieta is 5-0 with a 1.00 ERA and opposing batters are hitting .151 against him. That is pure dominance and Arrieta is the games best pitcher ( sorry Clayton Kershaw). I’m riding with the Cubbies ace until he comes back down to earth, although he has issued eight walks in his last two starts.
Last seasons’ American League MVP is blasting home runs. He has nine on the year. Tonight he faces lefty Martin Perez, who struggles mightily with right handed power hitters. On the season Donaldson is batting .409 against southpaws, with three home runs, two doubles and five walks. Those are numbers that are too good to pass up. I believe Donaldson can hit multiple home runs tonight.
The San Francisco Giants shortstop had a great game last night picking up four RBI. Tonight he will face off against Cincinnati Reds pitcher Jon Mascot. Mascot is 0-2 on the season with a 4.02 ERA. He is also dealing with some soreness in his shoulder. I expect Mascot to get bashed around tonight by the red hot bats of the Giants.
Those are my picks for daily fantasy baseball. Check back tomorrow for more selections.
