The San Francisco 49ers looked like they were going to break their losing streak as they went up 14-0 quickly in the first quarter. From the second quarter on, they only scored three, resulting in a 23-17 loss to the New York Jets. Carlos Hyde ran the ball for 193 yards, resulting in 25 points, while Colin Kaepernick received only 11 points. Let’s take a look at who to start and who to sit for the 49ers as they go on the road to face the Atlanta Falcons.
Who to Start
Keep going with the only offense that the 49ers have. Hyde has been very good since recovering from his shoulder injuries, racking up nearly 100 yards in each game. The only downfall with starting Hyde is the inability to get in the end zone, only scoring six touchdowns on the season. However, the Falcons defense do give up their share of points, so expect Hyde to keep the yards going.
Who to Sit
About 35% of leagues have Colin Kaepernick. Kaepernick had his small spree of big Fantasy points, but came back down to earth and will continue to struggle with no weapons around him. The Falcons defense has improved, and Hyde will be receiving a large load considering his progress in the last few weeks. It’s the Fantasy semifinals, so don’t go with a average quarterback, especially a quarterback who has no weapons to support him.
Under the Radar
Vance McDonald went on the IR for the rest of the season as he injured his shoulder on Sunday against theJets. This definitely doesn’t help the 49ers as they just signed him to a long term contract. With that said, Celek gets the start against the Falcons. Tight ends are tough this year for Fantasy, so consider the tight end, especially in an offense that favors heavily for Chip Kelly.
