Hello and welcome to the weekly fantasy football preview for the New England Patriots. As always this advice will be based on a 12 person league for ESPN with no ppr and standard scoring. By now you should be in the playoff stage of your leagues most likely, so best of luck in your games. Feel free to leave any comments below.
After a suddenly-challenging victory over the Baltimore Ravens, the New England Patriots (11-2) travel to Colorado for another tough game against the defending champion Denver Broncos. I anticipate this game will likely be close, even with the Broncos’ recent struggles this season, as Tom Brady, in his career, has always struggled in Denver, and these teams always play close games.
While the Broncos have been struggling on offense with using new quarterbacks to replace the retired Peyton Manning, their defense is playing better than last year which bodes well for playoff contender teams. Denver has the best passing defense in the league, allowing 183.5 yards per game while their rushing defense is fourth-worst, allowing 127.2 yards per game.
Who to start
LeGarrette Blount – RB
Because the Broncos’ rushing defense is much weaker than their passing, I anticipate that the Patriots will rely largely on their rushing offense to pound the ball and possibly open passing lanes. Blount has been a consistent runner for the Patriots, as well as being their main goal-line threat with the season-ending injury of tight end Rob Gronkowski.
Julian Edelman – WR
If any receiver is going to do well against the Broncos, it is going to be Edelman, who has continually provided a consistent target for Brady and will probably receive the majority of targets this game.
Who to sit
Tom Brady – QB
I know, Tom Brady is the G.O.A.T. and all that jazz, but he does have a career 2-7 record at Denver, so it is most likely he will have a not so fantasy-friendly game this week so it is best if you play your other quarterback this week.
