The final game of the season is upon us and the San Francisco 49ers look to close out the 2016 season with a win. San Francisco is 2-13 and reports have surfaced that coach Chip Kelly and general manager Trent Baalke will be fired. The team currently has the second pick in the draft and with a loss in week 17 will clinch at least a top two spot. They can still attain the first pick if the Browns win their final game and the 49ers lose. This has truly been disastrous year and I’m glad it will be over soon. Here are the predictions from the 49er staff writers:
In this final game of the season, the San Francisco 49ers take on the NFC West champion Seattle Seahawks with a first-round bye for Seattle at stake. The 49ers will need to take advantage of Seattle’s declining offensive line and Russell Wilson’s decreasing mobility in order to hold the Seahawks on offense. If San Francisco can build upon its 11 sacks in the last two games, it could make up for the lack of run defense and the dwindling secondary due to injuries. On offense, look for Colin Kaepernick to work on the ground often. Without Carlos Hyde in the backfield, Kaepernick will likely need to post high rushing totals to keep the 49ers in contention for the win. San Francisco will need big performances from every position to pull off this win, something the 49ers haven’t been reliable for all season long.
Seahawks – 24 49ers – 20
I remember the 49ers horrendous 2005 season when they had the first pick and used it on Alex Smith. This season in my opinion has been even worse and I’m happy it will be all over soon. With reports surfacing that Trent Baalke and Chip Kelly will be fired, I think the 49ers will play some inspired football in week 17. They won’t have the services of Carlos Hyde so the run game will take a hit, but the 49ers always play the Seahawks tough. Seattle, who has already won the NFC west can still get the number two seed and the bye. Look for them to give it there all, but expect a close low scoring game.
Seahawks – 17 49ers – 13
