The start of the 2017 Formula 1 season is just weeks away. With 20 scheduled Grand Prix’ and 11 contracted teams, this year promises to be filled with intensity and competition. While everyone is eagerly awaiting the start of the season on March 26th, fans have plenty to look forward to in the upcoming weeks.
Starting on February 20th, teams will be showcasing their cars for 2017. Sauber will be the first team to present their design, followed by Renault and Force India over the next two days. Mercedes will be demonstrating the F1 W08 Hybrid on the 23rd at Silverstone, which will be a fitting location for their British Driver Lewis Hamilton.
Not to be outdone, Ferrari will also be unveiling their new chassis the following day in Fiorano, Italy at their private test circuit. Teammates Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen are hoping the newer car will be more reliable considering the technical issues they suffered early on last season. While always eyeing the top podium spot, Scuderia Ferrari will have to stay consistent with Red Bull Racing if they plan on competing with Mercedes in the future.
McLaren Honda, Toro Rosso, and Red Bull will continue the 2017 car launch during next three days, finally coming to a close on the 26th of February. This will be followed immediately by preseason testing from February 27 to March 2nd, and March 7th to the 10th. Here fans will be able to see how each of their favorite teams competes alongside of each other, while also seeing the newest models in action.
With only a 2 week gap between the final day of testing and the start of the 2017 season, fans have a lot to be excited about in the month leading up to the Australian Grand Prix.
