Juventus defeated Barcelona 3-0 in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals thanks to Paolo Dybala who scored twice tonight.
As two months ago in Paris, Barcelona were defensively weak the whole game. The Italian grand had enough opportunities to make the final score even more humiliating, but Andre ter Stegen played well tonight – Dybala’s two strikes and Chiellini’s header left the goalkeeper no chances.

As was predicted, Juventus put pressure on Barcelona within 90 minutes. The loss of Sergio Busquets – the key midfielder – resulted in a catastrophe for the blaugranes. As a result, two first goals came from the midfield zones. Plus, the lack of another tall player resulted in the third goal that came from a corner.
Nevertheless, despite a horrible defensive performance, Barcelona played relatively well in attack. Iniesta and Suarez had two moments, which they must have scored, but firstly Buffon proved once again why he is still one of the best goalkeepers in the world, and then Suarez hit off target.
Will Barcelona make another comeback?
Barcelona did not score an away goal, so in the second game Barcelona have to score at least four goals to overturn the deficit and advance to the semi-finals. However, the chances that Barcelona will repeat their outstanding home performance against PSG are low. Unlike PSG, Juventus have already proved to be the top club. Having one of the best defense in the world, the Italian club has not conceded a goal in the UCL within 441 minutes. It will be a challenge for the Catalan club to score enough goals to go further in the tournament. Plus, Cuadrado, Dybala, and Higuain will look for any opportunity to counter attack and crush the hopes of Barcelona’s fans to win the Champions League.
So far, it seems that only a miracle can help Barcelona to overturn the result of the first game. One months ago, Barcelona made a historic comeback, but will Messi and the team be able to make it again?
