Panthers Ink Kuechly; Open Minicamp Today

Luke Kuechly will be in the Panthers' Rookie Minicamp this weekend in Charlotte

The Carolina Panthers signed top draft pick Luke Kuechly to a 4 year, $12.58 million contract, all guaranteed, on the eve of opening their Rookie Minicamp today. Kuechly was the all-time leading tackler in the NCAA while playing three seasons at Boston College. The Panthers will have 58 players in camp at the practice facilities at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte this weekend. The camp includes their 7 draft picks, 12 undrafted free agents, 7 players under contract with less than one year of NFL service time, and 32 players trying out.

Carolina Panthers: 2012 Draft Review

Luke Keuchly was the top pick for the Carolina Panthers in the 2012 NFL Draft

The Carolina Panthers addressed some big needs with their picks in the 2012 NFL Draft. With their first pick, they choose Boston College linebacker Luke Kuechly; their second pick was a huge offensive lineman from D-II Midwestern State, Amini Silatolu and their third pick was Oklahoma defensive end Frank Alexander. Analysists rated the Panthers’ draft from B to A-, but they certainly addressed major needs for the upcoming season.

Predicting the Carolina Panthers 2012 season

Cam Newton

The Carolina Panthers enter the 2012 NFL season as a team on the up-swing. Led by 2011′s Rookie of the Year, Cam Newton, the Panthers have a tough, but fair, schedule. In this piece, I look at each game and try to predict the outcome. Overall, I see this year’s Panthers team winning nine or ten games, but not making the playoffs. They are setting up nicely for a playoff run in 2013, however. Steve Smith and Newton are exciting to watch, and this year the Panthers will be playing some outstanding quarterbacks. They will go against Matt Ryan (Atlanta Falcons), Eli Manning (New York Giants), Drew Brees (New Orleans Saints), Tony Romo (Dallas Cowboys), Robert Griffin III (Washington Redskins), Peyton Manning (Denver Broncos), Michael Vick (Philadelphia Eagles) and Philip Rivers (San Diego Chargers), so their defense needs to really improve if this team will have a winning record in 2012.

First Impressions: Carolina Panthers Camp

Cam Newton warming up Sunday morning at the Panthers' training camp

Cam Newton is clearly the fan-favorite from what I observed Sunday at the Carolina Panthers’ training camp at Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC.
