Dallas will not be able to take all the players I want them to, but I hope they will take a couple that I see as solid players. I have had my share of good picks and bad.

Ideally for me I would like to have Dallas trade down. I think there will be plenty of need players available in the lower half of the first round. Personally I think Dallas missed out on their chance last season by passing on JJ Watt and taking an offensive Tackle.

The whole NFL is rapidly approaching the start of Free Agency. The benefit of having free agency before the draft is that teams can address needs with veterans if they want. Right now there is only one position I would say cannot use an upgrade and that is kicker. Not because Dan Bailey played so well, it’s just that Dallas has three on the roster two vets and one said to be better than Bailey. So with so much of an open market for Dallas here are my five thoughts.

Many fans have had their say in why Dallas missed the playoffs, pointing to everything from Tony Romo to the coaching staff, to the ownership. While it would be easy to attack why the Cowboys failed, I would like to look at what made them a success. Handing out season awards per group.

So last week was a preseason game and this week Dallas will be playing for the draft. Yes I am a long time fan that believes that Dallas can win this game but they won’t and for one single reason.

To say what the Cowboys approach to this game will be is really hard to say. Jason Garrett is a play it safe type of Coach. I can fully see him resting key players like Felix Jones, Jay Ratliff, and DeMarcus Ware.

So Dallas beat a team they should have beaten and while I don’t want to diminish the win, I can’t get too excited about it either. What I did get excited about was the Giants losing today.

The Cowboys gain and score more, and allow fewer than the Bucs at almost every turn. Dallas even has a plus 15 turnover difference. There is no reason for Dallas to lose this game other than one thing, coaching.

Let’s just say the Dallas Cowboys are what they are. These Dallas Cowboys are not the teams of the 90′s or even the 70′s, 80′s or 00′s.
