So last week was a preseason game and this week Dallas will be playing for the draft. Yes I am a long time fan that believes that Dallas can win this game but they won’t and for one single reason.

To say what the Cowboys approach to this game will be is really hard to say. Jason Garrett is a play it safe type of Coach. I can fully see him resting key players like Felix Jones, Jay Ratliff, and DeMarcus Ware.

So Dallas beat a team they should have beaten and while I don’t want to diminish the win, I can’t get too excited about it either. What I did get excited about was the Giants losing today.

The Cowboys gain and score more, and allow fewer than the Bucs at almost every turn. Dallas even has a plus 15 turnover difference. There is no reason for Dallas to lose this game other than one thing, coaching.

Let’s just say the Dallas Cowboys are what they are. These Dallas Cowboys are not the teams of the 90′s or even the 70′s, 80′s or 00′s.

The Cowboys have really set themselves up. Last week they had a great chance at separating themselves from the rest of the NFC East field and they failed. All it would have taken was one fewer time out, one less missed tackle, one more field goal made, or just one fewer mistake. Now they sit in a near playoff type of situation

It should come as no surprise that Dallas lost to the Cardinals. Yes they should have won, but something seems to keep Dallas from winning at Arizona and to be honest the Cowboys have not been playing their best football.

If Dallas wins this game they will have their 5th victory in a row. Regardless of how they won or who they played, they are sitting in a position to get a playoff spot and win the division. That’s the first goal. Once you are in the big dance anything can happen, it’s making that dance which is most important. Dallas won’t be overlooking the Cards but they might hold back a little bit if they can.

After the Washington game I spent a lot of time writing about how Dallas played ugly but got the win. How great it is to just pull out the victory and get the W. Well this time I can’t really put a lot of effort into justifying the win.
